“ Absolutely love tomo. Extremely fast service, food is delicious and hits everytime. Our go to is the chicken hibachi that comes with soup and the house salad. My husband gets the combo hibachi dinner with steak and chicken. We've tried two sushi rolls: the volcano and the keystone roll. Both are delicious but I like the keystone better. It's low lighting and moody inside, the hibachi grills are also always entertaining and fun ”
“ Wondering around looking for a new place to try and stumbled into Tomo. I ordered Harumaki vegetable eggroll and teriyaki salmon dinner to go. The 2 peices of salmon were cooked beautifully on a bed of slightly sautéed veggies. The soup was chicken broth with mushrooms and green onions. The eggrolls were small but cooked perfectly with a sweet dipping sauce. Even tho it was more money that i was planning to spend, I enjoyed everything and had leftovers. They had 3 parties going on at the Hibachi tables and it looked like the customers and chefs were all having a good time. I saw quite a few drink specials and sushi specials. I'm not sure how the price compares to Benihana's but looked fun for a night out with a group of 12. They also had several tables if you weren't having the whole Hibachi experience and just wanted to sit and eat. I ordered mine take-out and enjoyed. My server was very nice and the service was prompt. ”
“ Tomo is the best hibachi restaurant in Indy, which may be unassuming given its strip mall location. Chefs usually have their own unique tricks, are friendly, and the food is quality. The clear soup and salad appetizer is very good, and the yum yum sauce in the rice sets them apart from the rest of the competition. It is amazing how few Japanese steak houses add this kicker. The only critique is my 8 year old complains about getting scammed by the bubble gum machine, but I have decided to dismiss it as "user error" ”
“ I love love love this place!! The cooks are so funny and get everyone involved. They put on the best show out of all the Japanese steak houses I've been to. The environment is very nice. The lights are low, but not too low. It just creates such a nice vibe. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for great food and great service! The prices are on point as well! ”
“ This place was adorable--very quaint and intimate. It was a little dark for lunchtime, but still very nice. We ordered the lunch special, which included three sushi rolls, soup, and salad. The sweet potato rolls were the best I've ever tasted. The other two rolls, shrimp tempura and avocado salmon, were okay. For the price, I thought it was excellent. The service was good; the servers were attentive and there when we needed something. I will be back to check out the hibachi. Another hidden gem to add to my go-to spots! --- ”
“ tl:dr version Had great sushi, I'm going again. Would recommend. Tried --Yummy roll: solidly enjoyed it, but was a bit simple Tuna, mango, avocado, w. salmon, yellowtail on top (we enjoy a bit of crunchy topping & eel sauce, so that's on us) --Fantastic roll: I love shrimp tempura, and I loved this one Shrimp tempura, cucumber, w. spicy tuna on top --Crazy Tuna roll: split the group. Too spicy for me, was the favorite of my dining companion who loves spicy. They were serious w/ the amt of pepper on there! Spicy tuna w. pepper tuna, avocado on top --Pork egg rolls: Very tasty, but for $2 each, I was hoping for much larger egg rolls. They were slightly bigger than spring rolls. They have a hibachi area, but we ate in the dining room. Unlike most other dining experiences, they brought out each item as soon as it was ready. The egg rolls came out first, then each individual roll on its own. ”
“ We have visited this restaurant on a few occasions for regular table dinners and have never been disappointed. The sushi and sashimi are top-notch, very fresh, and perfectly balanced in their flavors. My husband has tried the Hibachi dinner a few times and it was enjoyable, even without the show. Although we haven't yet tried the hibachi dinner service, we plan to do so for a special occasion. We appreciate that the restaurant transparently states the higher gratuity for the hibachi service, as we believe it's fair. During our last visit, I tried their much-talked-about volcano roll, which was visually stunning, but in terms of taste, they have other rolls that have a much bigger flavor profile. We love the dark, almost romantic ambiance of the place and enjoy looking at the Japanese dolls all around the room. ”
“ Was on my way to Benihana's for lunch when we drove by Tomo and thought "Heck, why not give it a try instead?" It was just after 2 pm and they closed for lunch at 2:30. They were very accommodating. I checked in on Yelp and scored a free edamame appetizer! I love it when you get a Yelp surprise for checking in, I wish more places did it! I told my family "You know you would never think of eating here honestly, it's out of the way in a boring strip mall, and it would be very easy to overlook it." We could not do the hibachi since we were close to closing time but I got the $11 "Shrimp Teriyaki Lunch Box" well worth the money! Super cute presentation as well. Everything had great flavor and you got 6 huge shrimp! The prices of all their lunch items are a really good value, considering it's about the same price as fast food, (if not cheaper, and more delicious!) I will consider going back especially to try the hibachi! ”
“ Every time we stop by Indianapolis visiting family, Tomo is a must stop by place per kids request at least twice in a 8 day trip !! Once again thank you Tomo for a wonderful dinner. Food is still the best and friendly staff . We enjoyed it so much ! ”
“ Always awesome when we go here. I do see that the prices went up though. But I'd go again. I got shrimp hibachi and my cuzin had chicken and shrimp hibachi. Both had a side of noodles and extra yum yum sauce. If you get sushi definitely try my favorite the Volcano. It's spicy though. And get some plum wine ”
